"The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments. There are seven sacraments in the Church: Baptism, Confirmation or Chrismation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony."
Catechism Of The Catholic Church 1113
The three sacraments of initiation [Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation] effectively draw us into communion with God. We are now children of God; brothers and sisters in Christ inspired and nourished.
The sacraments of healing [Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick] effectively heal us in our relationship with each other and with God.
The vocational sacraments [Holy Orders and Matrimony] orient our lives to share in the mission of Jesus; drawing others into that communion with God and building up the Church: The Kingdom of God.
All of the sacraments are encounters with Christ: encounters with God.

"Sacraments,...are intimate encounters with Christ. We encounter the Love of God that makes us more fully alive in the Lord. The Sacraments shape our lives to become more like Christ." Fr. Martin J. Ralko
